Honoring two students who are going to college!

As we head into the springtime, we are presented with some new and unique opportunities. One such situation for the Learning Center is our seniors who are approaching graduation. We have teens who are about to be the first in their families to graduate from High School. And not only are they going to graduate, some of them are graduating at the top of their class with the hopes of going to college.

Two students in particular come quickly to mind. Both have been coming to the Learning Center since it opened in 1996. They are involved in tutoring, student leadership, the H.E.R.O. Academy, and Bible studies.

Alex Hinojosa is probably the most well-known student at the Learning Center. He is at every event, a part of every program, and a big help to our staff. This year he is the Captain of the Color Guard Team at Century High School as well as a tutor for 1-3 graders at the Learning Center! He is looking forward to attending HOPE International University or Cal State Long Beach in the fall.

Adriana Mondragon is another one of our star students. She will graduate in the top 10 of her high school class in June. She is taking 4 Advanced Placement classes and plays on the Varsity Volleyball team. Adriana has been very focused on education and her future since the 7th grade. She has been an active participant at the Learning Center for many years and even taught a computer class in Spanish for adults last year. Adriana is applying to UCI, Cal State Fullerton, Azusa Pacific University, Wheaton College, and Claremont College.
